Date Of Death: May 3, 1918Demeuldre enlisted in 1912, and was serving as a mechanic in the
French Air Service when the war began. He flew missions as a
gunner/observer, shooting down his first enemy aircraft, before
becoming a pilot in October of 1916. He was posthumously awarded the
Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.

"An exceptional pursuit pilot whose high morals, initiative, and
bravery excite the admiration and emulation of his comrades in
combat. He has shot down thirteen enemy planes, ten of them in four
months. On May 3, 1918, he fell in an all out battle during an
attack at close quarters with an enemy two-seater, leaving behind
the highest example of gallantry and young ardor." Légion d'Honneur
citation.
